If you are experiencing an infestation of cockroaches there are several ways for you to stop it. Baits are very effective because they use targeted extermination techniques that will allow the quick and efficient destruction of the invading roaches. They can come in gel form, with syringe applicators, or in plastic bottles. Some are available in granular form. Baits are poison, so make sure that you read the manufacturer’s label carefully. Place the baits properly places and use the correct methods for removing the baits when you are finished with them.
If you're going to use baits outside, you need to put them in areas that have lots of moisture. Try to place them near hoses and downspouts and exterior faucets. Roaches love moisture. On the inside put your baits in corners, under the sinks, in dark damp places. The bathroom and the kitchen are ideal places to use the baits. The baits may be covered in plastic, so make sure that you get the right size station for the right size roach. Get a small bait station for a German cockroach and a larger one for the bigger insects.
If you use gel bait, you need to apply the bait to the cracks and crevices around any opening you have in your house: windows, doors, or even the foundation and walls. Gel baits are poisonous so it is wise not to place these baits around food, or on your kitchen counter. If you are still having a roach problem, and decide to use a liquid or aerosol pesticide, be sure to keep these pesticides away from the baits. The pesticides will repel the roaches from the bait, defeating your purpose. You need the roach to get to the bait for the bait to be effective.
If one type of roach bait does not work to help clear out your cockroach problem, try another brand. Some roaches can create immunity to certain poisons. Switch out the poisons until you find the right one to kill your particular roach. You might want to try a combination of roach bait and pesticides. Make sure that the materials that you use are compatible.
