Even your pet food can be a potential source of food for roaches. After your pet eats, pick up the bowl, wash it out and put the remaining food into a sealed plastic bag. Even if you feed your animals outside, the pet food can not only attract roaches but salso many other kinds of insects.
Roaches love garbage. To avoid roaches in your garbage, make sure that your trash can has a tight seal. If you are using an open lid garbage can you need to make sure you rinse out all cans and bottles and make sure that you throw away all food in closed plastic bags. Open water also breeds roaches. If you have standing water on your counters, even a drop of water, this will attract roaches also. Wipe down your sink, counter-tops and kitchen table before you go to bed.
Roaches are scavengers: they will eat anything you leave behind. With this in mind, your family may have to change their lifestyles and cleaning habits to get rid of the roaches.
Once the roaches are gone, you need to continue these clean habits keep them from coming back. If you are practicing clean habits and the roach problem continues, you may want to try to pesticides, glue pads, or commercial roach killers.
